People all across the globe, myself included, are finding themselves stuck at home due to the notorious coronavirus. Those of us social distancing are taking healthy and safe precautions and should feel good about that. However, it is okay to acknowledge that being confined to the same space day after day is tiring and lonely. But, I try to look at these "staycations" as an opportunity to find new ways to enjoy life. Here's how I'm getting through social distancing.

Sunny spring weather is the perfect remedy for quarantine blues. One of my friends and I made a pact to walk "together" for an hour every other day. So, every other day I grab my tennis shoes and earphones so that we can talk over the phone while we each walk through our neighborhoods. We hold each other accountable so there is no way to cheat and skip a day. Its a great way to get some exercise and talk with somebody outside of your housemates.
Try turning television and news off and breaking out those old board games! I frequently feel like I've spent an entire day sitting on my phone watching news updates. The chaos that can ensue from playing a riveting round of Monopoly with my sister is great distraction. You can even order new games to try out. If physical board games aren't your thing, Jackbox makes virtual games you can play on your phone with your quarantine buddies. Lastly, never discount the fun in simple deck of cards. There are tons of games to play, even one-player ones, with cards. Try learning different strategies to games so you can wow your friends with your amazing new poker skills at your next game night.

My personal favorite way to spend a day in is having a home spa day. Look through the back of that old bathroom cabinet and find whatever face masks, hair color, and nail polish you have back there. I like to put together a relaxing playlist, break out a bathbomb, light some candles and take a relaxing bath. Don't have the supplies for whatever treatment you want to do? Never fear, online shopping is here. Check around at your favorite beauty stores to see what shipping deals they're offering.
If you're really craving a change of scenery from your bedroom walls, explore what companies are doing live videos. Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden posts live videos of different animals on their website and social media. If you're missing your Sunday service, see if your church is streaming services for you to watch. The Oklahoma City Museum of Art is providing a Virtual OKCMOA with blog posts and images of artworks. It's a way for art lovers to see the beautiful pieces the museum has to offer without leaving their home.
