Imagine this: it's summertime and you're one day away from spending a weekend at your favorite summer vacation spot. Your reservations are set and everything is a go, except that you can decide what to pack! Look no further. This is my guide to everything you need and nothing more for a weekend away.

Clothes:
You've got limited space but tons of cute outfits. So which ones should make the cut and which should spend this trip in the closet? This will partly depend on the weather, so make sure to check the forecast for the days you will be visiting for any rainy or cold days. If there are none, it's time to pack your favorite bathing suit, if you plan on swimming, and sundress or romper. I prefer rompers, but dresses can be more formal if you plan on going to an upscale restaurant or anything similar. Either can serve as a cover up or its own outfit. Next pack one pair of shorts or a skirt and two shirts. I try to only wear one pair of sandals to save maximum space.

Electronics:
You shouldn't need many electronics for a weekend trip. But, don't forget the essentials: phone, charger, and earphones.
Toiletries:
Big bottles of hair product can take up space in any backpack or suitcase. If you can, rely on the shampoo and conditioner bottles at the hotel. If you went through hell and high water to find the perfect products and aren't up to using hotel freebies, portion some out into smaller containers to pack. I also bring along toothpaste and brush, deodorant, a razor, a hairbrush, and some aloe vera gel, or whichever lotion you prefer. This is great if your skin gets dried out from the sun.
What to Ditch:
For a short weekend getaway, you won't need to bring anything work or school related. That may go without saying for some; but for the few who want to bring a laptop to get some extra work done during downtime, don't. You're not actually going to get any work done. Looking at your laptop or briefcase will only serve as a reminder of the work you have to do when you return home. Instead, relish in the freedom of a vacation and push your home responsibilities out of your mind. You also won't need any books or decks of cards to pass time. Try to focus on doing things there you wouldn't be able to do at home.
Summer Essentials:
There are some things that absolutely need to go with you on your summer trip. Firstly, sunscreen. I know first hand that forgetting this can make your trip go from fun in the sun to pain everywhere. If you're going somewhere with little relief from the heat, I highly recommend a portable fan to stay cool. These were a life saver for me when I visited Florida in August. Lastly, and most importantly, don't forget your sense of adventure!
